How much does a Plesk license cost?

A Plesk license at Hostleaf costs from €10.90 per month. The price depends on the edition, meaning how many domains you want to manage, and on the type of server Plesk runs on.

What is a Plesk license?

Plesk is a control panel for managing servers and websites. You handle domains, mailboxes, databases, SSL certificates and WordPress installations in the browser instead of on the command line.

To run Plesk on your server you need a license. It covers exactly one server and is bound to that server's public IPv4 address. The edition determines how many domains you can host and which tools are included.

The current version is called Plesk Obsidian. Plesk does not run on your own computer; it is installed on a server and then used in the browser.

Is Plesk free?

No. Plesk is commercial software, and running it permanently on a server requires a paid license. For testing, the vendor offers a free two-week trial, no credit card required.

At Hostleaf you get Plesk licenses from €10.90 per month.

If you do not want to run your own server, web hosting with Plesk is the simpler choice, Plesk is already included there.

Which Plesk edition do I need?

The three editions differ in how many domains you can host and which management tools are included.

What is the difference between a VPS and a dedicated license?

Plesk licenses come for two server types. A VPS license can only be activated when Plesk runs inside a virtual machine, such as a VPS or cloud server. That also applies when the virtual machine runs on your own hardware. If you install Plesk directly on a physical server, you need a dedicated license.

The editions offer the same features on both server types, only the price differs: VPS licenses at Hostleaf start at €10.90, dedicated licenses at €14.90 per month.

According to the vendor, a dedicated license can also be installed on a virtual server, but it costs more. For a VPS the VPS license is enough.

Does the Plesk license work on Linux and Windows?

Yes. Since Plesk 12 there are no separate licenses for Linux and Windows anymore; the same key works on both systems. What matters is that the vendor still supports your operating system. If Plesk runs on a system without vendor support, Plesk charges a service fee of €59.00.

Where can I get a cheap Plesk license?

At Hostleaf, Plesk licenses start at €10.90 per month including 19% VAT, cancellable monthly with no annual commitment. When comparing, check whether a price includes VAT, how long you commit and whether the edition allows enough domains for your projects. That is up to 52% below the list price in the Plesk online store (as of 24 October 2026). Also make sure you receive an individual license key for your own server and not access to a key shared with other customers.

Is this an official Plesk license?

Yes. Every license is its own official Plesk license key, issued individually for your server and bound to its IP address. We do not sell shared keys used by several customers at once. You can check the status at any time in the panel and in Plesk itself under Tools & Settings > License Information.

Can I rent a Plesk license monthly?

Yes, Plesk licenses at Hostleaf are billed monthly only. The license renews automatically for another month so it does not expire mid-operation. After a cancellation in the panel it stays valid until the end of the paid month.

Is there a lifetime Plesk license?

No. According to the vendor, Plesk has not sold perpetual licenses since 2012. New licenses are subscriptions, billed monthly or yearly. At Hostleaf you rent the license monthly and can cancel it at the end of any paid month.

How do I activate my Plesk license?

  1. Choose edition and server type and enter your server's public IPv4 address, during the order or later in the panel.
  2. After payment the license is issued automatically. License number and activation code then appear in the panel.
  3. In Plesk, go to Tools & Settings > License Information and click "Install Key".
  4. Paste the activation code and confirm with "Install". Plesk then runs with the edition you booked.

You can also do it on the server command line: plesk bin license -i followed by your activation code installs the license, and plesk bin license -c then checks that it is valid.

You install Plesk on the server beforehand yourself, the license unlocks the installation.

Where do I find my Plesk license key?

Right after payment, your license overview in the panel shows the license number and the activation code. The activation code is the key you install in Plesk. In Plesk itself you can see the installed key, its edition and expiry date under Tools & Settings > License Information.

You do not have to install a new key every month. The license renews automatically and Plesk fetches the updated key from the vendor's licensing server by itself.

Can I move the license to a new server?

Yes. The license is tied to the IP address, not to a provider. When you move, enter the new IP in the panel and then install the key on the new server. The number of IP changes is limited so one license cannot travel across several servers. If you need more changes, support unlocks them.

Do I need a server from you?

No. The license applies to the server whose IP address you enter, no matter where it is hosted. What matters is the matching server type: a VPS license for virtual servers, a dedicated license for physical servers. If you are still looking for a server, we have matching VPS and root servers.

Add-on modules you can book with any license - during the order or later from the panel.
